3.Then, sometime in May/June.. Umar’s friends the J brothers got a baby boy . So, together with MrA, Umar brought Mr.J and the boys to the slaughterhouse.

4.During the first week of Hari Raya here, another friend wanted to do an aqiqah for his newborn daughter. Since we had our experience doing it for Nuha, MrA offered to accompany his friend to the slaughterhouse. And again Umar joined in.

5.Last Friday, Umar’s classmate who also had a newborn baby sister came with this father and grandma from Doha to do the aqiqah in Al Khor. So, again Umar had the chance to go to the slaughterhouse for the aqiqah.

Of course when Umar had all the experiences above, he had obviously been asking all the related questions about Aqiqah. Basically he understands that when a family has a newborn, an aqiqah has to be done. Since we did not do any kenduri at home because we distributed the cooked meat to neighbours and friends, Umar knows that the meat of the aqiqah must be shared with many others.

The highlight is..

Yesterday when Umar came back from school, he asked me..

Mummy, kalau baby lion yg baru lahir.. dia kena tak buat aqiqah?????

Hahaha

***Ni kes pasal mummy tak explain yg aqiqah is only applicable to human.. not animals!

Ini bekal pergi sekolah Kakak & Abang

The kiddos have started the new academic Year 2010/2011. Umar is in Year One and Inas in Year Three this year. They now go to school in different time. Kakak goes at 6.20 and Abang at 6.45 and Kakak finishes school at 1 pm and Abang at 12.30.

Today is the school open day for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

Oh by the way, I am seriously cultivating healthy eating for the whole family which is tough and that’s why they have to bring only cucumber and grapes to school for most days. This is because they have been stuffing themselves with only cookies, chocolates, cakes, fruit juices and sweeties and sweeties during school hols. May I continue to be persevere with this noble effort InsyaAllah

And now, I continue to use associations with Umar especiallly when I started teaching him Iqra’ Book 1 last year.

I told him /Haa/ sounds like the sound after we ate something hot and spicy.. /Haa/, that the sound of the /h/ in the beginning comes from the inside.. that is the middle part of the throat (Al-Halq).

Alhamdulillah after many practices, Umar managed to make the correct /Haa/ sound.

He said this many many times: Mummy, haa ni dia pedas.. dia makan cili kan mummy?

While pointing at the letter /Jim/, Umar said: Mummy yang ni Jim/Jaa.. dia tak pedas.. pasal dia bukam cili kan mummy? Dia (huruf Jim) tomato?

Haha!

Mummy.. yang ni Dho.. macam tu kan mummy.. Dho macam pintu.. door? (pointing to the door to my room)

That was when he was in Iqra’ 1 last year. After that, he didn’t make associations anymore. I guess mainly because he could already identify all the letters, Alahmdulillah..

Mummy, Yaa is bebek ya?

—- Abang, Yaa is not bebek.

Iye mummy.. Yaa is bebek!!!!!

—- Ok.. Yaa looks like bebek.. but it is not bebek.

Mummy.. yaa tu bebek!!!

…. MrA and me were trying very hard to keep a straight face in the car.. trying not to laugh.

For info.. Umar goes to the Indonesian Islamic and Quran lessons.

For those who do not know, bebek is an Indonesian word for ITIK or DUCK.. So it is very true that the shape of the letter Yaa looks like a duck.. and that’s why Ya is Bebek..

I believe that’s what his ustazah mentioned when trying to make him remember the huruf Yaa..

Well, in teaching and learning, making associations really help us to remember many things InsyaAllah.

Because I want to teach my own kids just like mummy can teach Kakak and Abang..

Ohh ok.. but I like to teach and draw.. that’s why kakak nak jadi a teacher and an illustrator.

It’s good if you can write and draw for Islamic books for children because there are not many books like that..

Kakak tau mummy.. I have some stories yang very good kakak dah tau nak tulis.. then, I will use good Islamic names for the characters…. like Muhammad, Aisyah, Fatimah..

Mummy:  Abang boleh jadi ustaz..

Kakak:  Haaa bolehlah abang!! Abang jadi ustaz macam UncleMamu…

Abang:  Tapi abang nak jadi ustaz kat masjid aje…  (hahahhah ……CikJa: adakah ini kerana Ustaz UncleMamu selalu kedengaran di dalam radio dan kelihatan di dalam peti hitam?? )

Mummy: Ok boleh.. abang jadi Imam dekat masjid nak?

Abang:      Ha… nak.. abg nak jadi Imam dekat masjid mummy… abang nak jadi Imam macam Umar Al-Khattab…

Mummy: Ok.. baguslah Abang

Kakak Inas got an idea to be an illustrator when she started reading Sally Gardner’s book – Book of Princesses which we bought for her in 2007. At that time, I suspected Inas to be having some signs of being dyslexic. Dr. Umi Kalthum suggested me Sally Gardner. Then, I bought the first Book of Princesses and automatically Inas was really tied up with the book.The book came with an audio CD which Inas would listen to many many times every night and day until she could verbally memorise all the stories.

She also loves the detailed illustrations in the book which is done by the writer Sally Gardner herself… and that’s how Inas started wanting to be an illustrator and also a book writer.

Watch below.. Inas was telling one of the stories from A Book of Princesses. This was taken in September 2008 when we were still back in Bintulu. At that time, Inas was almost 6 years old and could only read simple words but not the whole book. So, we bought her the audio-CD together with the book above. She listened attentively because I must say that all the stories are very delectable unlike the typical fairy tales that I am used to.

Every day and night after coming back from her kindy, Inas would listen to the stories repeatedly until there was a point that she could memorise all of them.

And so, it’s the time of the year again when..

Mr.A is working on a straight no off day for 21 days for a minimum of 12 hours per day..

He’ll go at 6 a.m and would only be back the earliest at 8.30 pm… and again that continues without fail for 21 days…

NO weekend NO off days in between. Oh and there are many many times he only reached home at 10pm..

Inas has been saying.. Shut down. shut down.. shut down.. I don’t like shutdown!! It’s not fair!! because she doesn’t have MrA to play chess with.

Yes, Mr A is in the shutdown team. Every now and then, the factory would have to shut the LNG trains to let maintenance works taking place for the machineries and what nots.. (err.. hope it’s not a wrong explanation  )

and Umar has insisted that bapak must sleep in his bed albeit the fact that he has already fallen asleep most times when MrA came back home..

and Nuha has not been “friendly” with bapak anymore. When MrA came back she would wake up but when she was in MrA’s arms while I was heating food for MrA’s late dinner, Nuha would make little cries while trying to locate mummy.. her source of so many things

ohhh and I am still trying very hard to keep “strong” but sad to admit that towards the third week which is towards the end of this shut down, I felt like crumbling…

Nuha is already 4 months. Yeah.. she still wakes up for feeding a few times at night.. but sometimes more because of sucking for comfort.. err not much real feeding coz she would doze off once she got it. Well, so it’s just natural that mothers wouldn’t have enough sleep and with Nuha because she’s on exclusive feeding, no one else could cover up the job of feeding her. So, it’s only mummy to which I am very happy about because this is the first time that breastfeeding has been successful! Alhamdulillah…

She continues turning herself over and over again.. and when tired she would cry.

I bought her a teether last month but it seems like she loves her fingers more or mummy’s knuckles & fingers better than the teether sometimes.

Oh.. and she has been prescribed with 2 drops of Vitamin D daily by the doctor. All the babies get this because they’re afraid of Vitamin D deficiency due to the fact that most stay inside the house most of the time especially now when summer is approaching.

Just like Inas and Umar when they were little.. Nuha doesn’t like to be left alone too…

I drag her inside the baby rocker everywhere in the house. To the toilet (she stays outside the door haha , cooking, washing dishes.. everywhere she would be very close to mummy if not she’d cry! Oh dear!!

So, when MrA had been coming home late for the past 20 days, I have not had a nice refreshing peaceful bath in the morning which I had sometimes compensated with a warm shower at night. Err.. I mean I do take my bath in the morning but in a real quick marathon with Nuha crying background..

Oh what did I do when Nuha’s sleeping? I either cooked or sneaked out very silently looking at my flowers in the garden and that is very therapeutic. I mean looking at flower that is.. not cooking

Now, I wonder how I have survived doing all these alone since Inas.. being far from families, 24/7 at home…. emotionally and physically challenging!!  Especially at that time, I took a road which is less travelled that is decided to stop working which of course evoked many different perceptions… but that was 7 years ago..

Now..Alhamdulillah I survived and never regret! Praises be only for Allah!!

Again, Alhamdulillah.. Alhamdulillah.. Alhamdulillah…

Although MrA came back very late now, it is much better than our Bintulu days when he had to leave us all for courses, meetings and what nots and not once but many many many times throughout the year. Alhamdulillah those days are over now.

My mother and so as Mr. Postman have been wondering on all the small parcels deliveries Yes, I bought things from Malaysian blogs and got the goods all sent to my mother’s. Not that I bought so many things. One parcel would just contain let say 1 cute bodysuit for Nuha but they keep on coming continuously..

Pheww!!.. It’s not easy shopping online you see.. but since I find it hard now to spend much time in malls, online window shopping replaces the crave for real window shopping which I am deprived of 

Inas also realised that I have been “looking” at shopping blogs in between house chores and babysitting and she’s amazed that people could sell so many things online which of course led to many many questions on the process of online selling and buying!

and one day..

Mummy, I want to sell my drawings. Mummy ambik la gambar semua drawing kakak.. lepas tu mummy letaklah dalam Internet. Lepas tu boleh lah jual.

Err.. kakak nak jual drawings kakak ke betul2 ?

Betul! Kakak boleh lukis banyak-banyak.. then mummy help kakak Inas jual dalam Internet.

Hmmm… ok let mummy think about it..

I think there were more or less 10 dots on Umar’s body and 2 dots on his face. It was not bad at all.. very mild, Alhamdulillah. The doctor said he might just have been lucky or may be the vaccine of MMR that he just had when we went back to Msia last summer really worked out, Allahu’alam. I told the doctor about the MMR he took from his paed back home , and the doctor said that Umar was jabbed with an original vaccine and that explains why his chicken pox was mild. Oh.. so there are imitation vaccine I guess..

Anyway, when Umar had to stay at home during the course of being confined because of his chicken pox, I had a hard time at home making territories for Umar. He just couldn’t come near to Nuha which he always forgot because he always plays with Nuha all this while. So I have to remind him over and over again and reinforced that he could only be in the living room or in his own room. Poor Umar! But he has always been a good boy and just got along with the rules happily because I let him watch his 2 favourite movies over and over and over again and he never got enough of them which I wonder why. He has even memorised the dialogues and now kept on pestering us to bring him over to see Kaabah and Constantinople which is called Istanbul now.

Ok.. so he has been watching for an umpteenth time the movie of Prophet Muhammad saw and Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih

While I’m writing this entry I could hear again Umar’s watching the same VCD for I think at least the second time for today..

.. Then after a week Umar had been in school, last Wednesday was Inas’s turn. They’re many kids from their school who were also infected with chicken pox. So, it was not that alarming that Inas and Umar also contracted the virus. So, Inas is off from school for a week and by the time she recovered from her chicken pox, it’s already the 2 week school holiday.

While having Inas at home, Nuha also has flu and coughing and only wanted to be cuddled all the time. So, for the past 3 days, Nuha has not been her usual good baby. She has been cranky and cried easily and sulked a lot! And when she sulked, she would cry out loudly and refused to be fed for quite sometime! Oh dear

and she only wanted to sleep in my arm all day.

To make things worse, I am also having flu, sore-throat and coughing and so does MrA. In fact, MrA is having fever on and off until today!

So, for the whole week, we have all been sick including Nuha the baby of the house.

May these tests wash away our sins just like a tree sheds its leaves..

Inas has spent many hours reading old entries of the blog. She loves reading what I wrote about her and Umar. She would read them over and over again and also keep on replaying youtube short clips of them when they were younger. Then she would call Umar and related how funny they were and then started to ask me many many questions about their growing up. I too enjoyed reminiscing with them and realised how I miss those moments when they were younger. I thought I have written enough about them but I was wrong. There are so much things I have left out

Oh how I wish!

(1)By Al-’Asr (the time).

(2) Verily, man is in loss,

(3) Except those who believe (in Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma’ruf) which Allâh has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar) which Allâh has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allâh’s Cause during preaching His religion of Islâmic Monotheism or Jihâd).

The surah teaches that we are all can easily be in loss, except those who believe in Allah and Muhammad, and those who remind others of the haq (truth) and with patience and constancy.

I have to shamefully admit that my patience is always wearing thin everytime it’s mengaji session with the kids. You know besides early morning, Maghrib time is also the busiest time of the day. Taking bath, dinner, solat and mengaji and now I have a little bundle who sometimes decided that feeding time is also during this already busy time. So, I have Inas and Umar mengaji with me and Nuha on my lap feeding. When it’s Umar’s turn to mengaji, Inas has to do her hafazan and when it’s Inas time to mengaji, Umar always plays with his toys in his room. Yeah.. I guess boys are generally a bit more playful compared with girls.

And MrA sometimes just sat behind me during this session. The kids would find ways only to mengaji with mummy not bapak although yang paling garang macam singa bila mengaji is mommy. Bapak relax je    MrA and me would laugh seeing me like an octopus with 3 kids all around.. feeding Nuha, reminding kakak to continue with her hafazan, correcting Umar and kadang2 tiba2 Nuha pulak menjerit pasal rupa2nya susu dia dah tak masuk dalam mulut.. missed target and baju mummy pulak basah haha!!

Anyway, Inas is on Surah Al-Humazah now.. and that is because her ustazah has reminded her to do hafazan everytime she goes mengaji at Dar Al-Arqam. Inas finished her Iqra’ 5 September last year but I did not continue her with Iqra’ 6 yet. I made her do the famous TV9 Marilah Mengaji Ustaz Zamri‘ method which highlights and emphasises tajweed and which is called Kaedah Al-Matien.

.

Although Inas already knows how to recite since she has finished her Iqra’ 5, she’s still doing the Al-Matien slowly… very slowly. Inas has difficulties with pronunciation but Alhamdulillah she’s hardworking unlike Umar who is very playful when it comes to learning with mummy. I find the Al-Matien is a good way to really emphasise on tajweed, which was exactly how my ustaz taught us all when we went to sekolah agama petang after coming back from real school during primary years which I think is very effective. Sekolah agama petang dulu kain hijau.. sekarang kena tukar kain merah??

So, Inas is going slowly with Al-Matien at home with mummy and in Dar Al-Arqam, she’s doing Juz Amma.

And Umar is on Page 4 of Iqra’ 2. He started his Iqra’ last year according to this blog entry. Thanks to having this blog because it makes it easier for me to do some referencing. Amazingly, I discovered that both Inas and Umar started their Iqra’ in the month of May.. hmm.. sama pulak? Inas- May 2007 and Umar- May 2009. What a coincidence!

Nuha will be 3 months tomorrow by the way. Tiba-tiba last week she rolled over and dah meniarap. I didn’t see how it happened because she was supposed to be sleeping at that time. But suddenly I heard screaming and saw Nuha tengah meniarap face down and penat kot.. tu yang menjerit.Today, she continued trying to roll over but failed. It’s ok sayang, awak baru 3 bulan esok.. Kakak and Abang only rolled over when they were 4 months old. It’s way too early darling!

Dengan cuaca yang belum berapa panas ni, pokok2 semua Alhamdulillah senang nak tumbuh. Cuma kena rajin siram. Tapi kalau malas  eh tak.. kalau sibuk dengan anak-anak dan kerja rumah, boleh saja siram pokok dengan cara macam kat bawah ni..

Daun kesum saya dalam pasu ini juga hidup subur di sebalik pokok pisang.. Alhamdulillah! Emak yang pilih lokasi paling strategik untuk letak daun kesum hasil daripada pemerhatian teliti beliau berkenaan pancaran sinar matahari, arah tuju angin dan juga tahap keselamatan haha! Di sini daya ketahanan dan temph hayat pokok daun kesum amatlah rendah!

Jadi, teori emak berjaya!!

Saya sudah pun pakai daun kesum dalam masak asam pedas ikan pari saya minggu lepas. Ohh.. sekarang musim ikan pari di sini!

Minggu lepas, entah macamana Nuha tidur lama sikit pada waktu pagi. Jadi saya curi-curi keluar kemas kebun kecil saya dan pungut hasil2 yang ada. Daun-daun sayur yang terlalu tua dan keras saya cantas.

Waktu petang menjelang, tiba-tiba pula anak-anak ini sudah tidak mahu main basikal macam biasa sebab mereka sungguh teruja nak main masak-masak dengan daun2 yang saya buang. Hmmm…. sebenarnya ini adalah aktiviti harian mereka di Bintulu satu masa dulu..

Sungguh gembira!!

Dah siap2 pakai helmet nak main basikal.. tiba-tiba tak jadi sebab masak-masak lagi best!!

It was on Monday 11 Muharram 1431H, 28 December 2009, that we did  the aqiqah for Nuha. It was on her 7th day of birth.

It is a sunnah as Rasullulah s-a-w performed aqiqah for his grandsons Hasan and Husein.

MrA was the one who captured all these photos because obviously I couldn’t be around to capture the moment. So, when MrA did the slaughtering part, no one was able to shoot the scene and thus explains the missing most important moment.

He's the expert. MrA slaughtered the lamb with his help. The lamb was already slaughtered here. You couldn't see the blood coz it went down into the drain exactly underneath.

Alhamdulillah.. the slaughtering done.

MrA sent the lamb to a Turkish Restaurant here for them to prepare Nasi Bukhari Lamb. We also requested them to prepare the food into small packs and delivered them to our house. They sent the food packs exactly at 4.30 pm and Mr A wenaround the community giving it away to our friends. Ohh.. some were distributed by KakAzra.

When MrA came back to the house after sending the lamb to the restaurant.. he shaved Nuha. This was MrA’s first experience. Inas was shaved by an ustaz back in SabakBernam (MrA’s home) and Umar was shaved by an ustaz UncleMamu hehe

Alhamdulillah!

As I stated earlier, this is just my harmless and hopeless way of expressing what I have experienced. It helps me to go through the trauma and also put things in a better perspective. InsyaAllah with time I would overcome this and get back to my own happy self. But of course this experience has left a deep scar which has somehow changed things in my life. Despite all these down feelings.. Alhamdulillah.. Alhamdulillah.. Alhamdulillah.. my baby and me are safe and healthy and this is the most important thing!

As I mentioned time and again to friends and family, things that had happened in the last minute during my labour is Allah’s best plan for me! Neither would have I asked for more nor would I regret it.

In the labour room after my mother and friends left for lunch and Zuhur prayers, I had a nice conversation with the nurse who had to look after me all the time. She’s pregnant with her 2nd child and had delivered her first baby in the same hospital. She told me she was happy that I can speak English. Me too~ at least the hostile, cold and bare labour room would be much livelier with our little conversations.

I was much more relaxed and calm. The syntocinon has started to act upon me. Everytime the contraction came which was shown at the reading that came out from the Electrical Fetal Monitoring (EFM) machine, the nurse would ask me to take a deep breath so as to manage the pain and to allow more oxygen going to the muscles and thus encourage the cervix’s opening.

Amazingly, unlike contractions I felt during my 2 previous labour this time I couldn’t feel much pain. As if the contractions did not occur. The nurse had been asking me.. do you feel the contraction?No.. I said.

Actually I had already felt very painful and sore underneath due to the doings of the doctors (Part 2). I believe because I was too much in a great pain and the effect was still fresh, the pain from the contractions was comparatively mild and thus I could hardly feel it. Allahu’alam..

Because I couldn’t feel the contractions, I couldn’t remember the intervals of time they occurred.

The nurses had increased the amount of Syntocinon and then decreased it back because I was having contractions too often, which means at a shorter interval time. Even when I was having a more regular contractions I still couldn’t feel the pain. SubhanAllah!!

Some minutes before 1 pm, 3 male ObGyn came. I do not want to be bias.. but they are all Arabs and I have to note it down here. One of them was the same ObGyn who tried to move away my baby’s hand from her head. With him are a much elderly ObGyn and a younger one. I guess they all represented certain levels of expertise in ObGyn Department of the hospital!!

Haha!! and ALL of them must come to have a look at this Malaysian mama who’s baby in her womb was amazingly putting her hand on her head and how they are going to make this mama deliver her baby normally through the vagina. Ohh dear!!

Since morning (in less than 4 hours), I have met 5 ObGyn of the hospitals. Just imagine! I must have been the talk of the Women’s Hospital!!!

I was already feeling defensive once I saw all of them marched into the labour room. The nurses were all back in there.. 3-4 of them and 3 tall, well-built good looking feeling-less cold doctors ready to embrace their jobs!! I was scared!!

The process began.

Silence.

Gloves.

and down the fingers went into the pelvis. Ouuchhhh!!!!

I was gasping.. the nurses put on the oxygen mask!

Shoulder presentation.. shoulder presentation!!! ~~~ I kept on hearing the chant!

The most senior (macam at0k-atok material) more humble and warm ObGyn put on his gloves.. while calling me, habibti.. habibti!

This atok ObGyn was much nicer.. at least he tried to be nice!

All the nurses were now very busy getting me ready to be transferred to the Operation Theater. I was going to deliver my baby through Caeserean Section- the procedure which I have never thought of! They were very fast!! Really fast! Everyone in the room were moving and really busy getting ready for the op.

Within couple of minutes, they have already pushed me on the bed to the OT. And because it was such a dramatic scene, at times the bed I was on banged a little bit of the door when they’re pushing me through. Even at that emergency moment, I could still imagine the scenes from ER or may be House.. hahah!

Ok…. so that’s how I ended up in the OT and had my baby delivered through C-sect. At 1 pm I was still in the labour room.. and my baby was officially declared to being born at 1.18 pm. Allhamdulillah!! Allahummabarik!!

and the next day the doctor told me that when they got the baby out of the womb, she was in a total breech presentation. They had to pull out her legs first. No more shoulder presentation like when the doctors confirmed before I was wheeled to the OT. I guess my baby kept on moving when I was on my way to the OT.

Alhamdulillah.. Alhamdulillah..Alhamdulillah. I was relieved coz everything went well, fast and safe for both of us.
